Serendipity Recommender System for Academic Disciplines

This paper proposes a system that encourages users to discover disciplines such as mathematics and biology, which they have not explored before. The recommendation of unexpected information is highly demanded in current recommender systems, are used various situations. To meet this need, the present study considers serendipitous discovery related interest users. Serendipity means ability see what others do not, useful things with your own wisdom. Our select photograph interest, then ponder relevance another appearing on display. When two photos perceived relevant, recommends discipline relates photos, but surprises user. Whether gain serendipity from was evaluated an experiment. results confirmed induced by providing through photographs linked disciplines.
